Her career with the Miami Dolphins included performing stand-up comedy at NFL Draft Day, Miami Dolphins Fan Fest, as well as numerous overseas tours for the U.

Russell, a former NFL linebacker of seven years, and his mother, Corliss, established the foundation in 1998 after witnessing the challenges that illiteracy causes and the lack of educational reinforcement resources available to minority youth.
